About the artwork:
"If we think within a premise that language is the vehicle for culture, I would like to think this artwork will add a voice to that continuing dialogue. A critique through visual metaphor on the effects of a Neo-Liberal ideology on the narrative of our society in New Zealand, subtly influenced through hegemonic persuasion by the Corpo-Aristocracy over the last three decades.
My intention is that the viewer reads my work in the same manner one would read a column in a newspaper, black and white rows and columns suggesting a narrative of the perception of happiness in New Zealand. The kiwi dream of owning a house, the back garden, summer BBQ’s, all slowly disappearing for many New Zealanders. These tall empty monuments to investment, to personal wealth, but devoid of community. The houses I have used in the work are all currently on the market or recently sold."
